FAQs
Answer your community's most common questions in one tidy, searchable page. An FAQ bundles Sections (categories) of Questions and answers into an accordion visitors can expand.
Before you begin
Think of an FAQ as a container built in three layers:
- The FAQ itself — one public page (for example "Trash & Recycling FAQ").
- Sections — categories inside the FAQ that group related questions (for example "Billing" or "Permits").
- Questions — the individual question-and-answer pairs inside each section.
You will build them in that order: create the FAQ shell first, add sections, then fill each section with questions. Answers are written in the Page Editor, so they can include links, images, and formatted text.
Everything lives under Left menu › FAQs. From there you can see every FAQ on your site, create new ones, and open an FAQ to build out its sections and questions.
1 Open Manage FAQs
In the left sidebar click FAQs to reach the Manage FAQs screen, a list of every FAQ on your site with when each was last updated. Click an FAQ's name to open and edit it.
2 Add an FAQ (the shell)
Click Add FAQ. Give the FAQ a Title — this is also what visitors see at the top of the public page — and confirm the URL, which is suggested from the title (you can override it). Pick the Assigned department so the FAQ shows up in the correct department's side menu.
Set Status to Draft while you build it out, then flip it to Published when you want it live. Click Save.
3 Create Sections
On the FAQ edit screen click Add Section and give the section a title (for example "Billing", "Trash & Recycling", or "Permits"). Each section becomes a heading on the public page with its questions nested below.
Add as many sections as you need. A section with no questions in it will not show on the public page, so it is safe to scaffold the structure first and fill it in later.
4 Add Questions
Inside a section, click Add Entry to create a question. Each question has:
- A Title — the question text visitors click to expand.
- A Content answer — written in the Page Editor, so it can include links, images, lists, and embedded media.
Repeat for every question you want in that section.
5 Reorder by drag-and-drop
Questions inside a section are drag-and-drop reorderable — grab a question by its handle and drop it into a new spot. The new order saves automatically and appears on the public page on the next visit. Whole sections can be dragged the same way to control the order they appear.
6 Publish and display on your site
When the FAQ is ready, set its Status to Published and Save. The other status values (Draft, Unpublished, Pending Approval, Archived) all keep the FAQ hidden from the public site.
Because you set an Assigned department, the FAQ shows in that department's side menu automatically. You can also add a direct link to it from any menu — in the Menu Item pop-up choose the FAQ content type and pick your FAQ. See the Menus guide for how.
