Slideshows
A slideshow is a rotating banner of images — each slide can have a caption, a link, and buttons. Slideshows are a popular way to feature announcements at the top of a page.
Before you begin
Upload your slide images to the Media Library first — you will pick them from there as you build each slide. For a clean banner, it helps if all your slide images are about the same shape and size.
You will also want a page to display the finished slideshow on.
Slideshows live under Pages in the left sidebar: Left menu › Pages › Slideshows.
1 Create a slideshow
Go to Left menu › Pages › Slideshows. You will see a list of any slideshows you already have. Choose to create a new slideshow, give it a Title, and save. The title is just for you to find it later; visitors do not see it.
2 Choose the slideshow settings
Open the slideshow to adjust how it behaves:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | A name for this slideshow, used only in the admin. |
| Show Controls | When on, visitors see next / previous arrows to move through slides themselves. |
| Transition Speed | How many seconds each slide stays on screen before the next one appears. |
| Size Width | The width of the slideshow area, in pixels. |
| Size Height | The height of the slideshow area, in pixels. |
3 Add and order slides
With the slideshow open, add a slide and fill in its details. Each slide has these options:
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Image | The picture for this slide. Click to open the Media Library and choose your image. |
| Label | A short heading shown over the image (optional). |
| Text | A caption or sentence shown under the label (optional). |
| Link | A web address the slide sends visitors to when they click it (optional). |
| Alt Text | A short description of the image for screen readers and accessibility. |
| Picture Credits | A photo credit line, if you need to attribute the image (optional). |
| Content Alignment | Where the label and text sit on the slide: Left, Center, or Right. |
| Sort order | Controls the order slides appear in. Lower numbers show first. |
Add as many slides as you like. Change the sort order values to rearrange them.
4 Add buttons to a slide (optional)
Each slide can have one or more clickable buttons — handy for a "Learn More" or "Register Now" call to action. For each button, enter the button text and the web address it links to. You can also set the button sort order and choose whether buttons stack Vertically or sit side by side Horizontally.
5 Place the slideshow on a page
Open the page where you want the slideshow (see the Pages guide). On the Applications tab, click Add Application and choose Slideshow, then pick the slideshow you built. Save the page and your slideshow appears when the page loads.
6 Edit or delete a slideshow
Return to Left menu › Pages › Slideshows and click a slideshow to change its settings, add or remove slides, or reorder them. To remove a slideshow entirely, open it and use the delete action.
