Photo Galleries
A photo gallery displays a set of images together — as a grid of thumbnails or a sliding carousel. Galleries are perfect for event photos, park pictures, or project progress shots.
Before you begin
Upload your photos to the Media Library first. If you keep all the photos for one gallery together in a single folder, you can import the whole folder at once (see step 4), which is the fastest way to build a gallery.
You will also want a page or a menu where visitors can reach the gallery.
Galleries live under Pages in the left sidebar: Left menu › Pages › Galleries.
1 Create a gallery
Go to Left menu › Pages › Galleries. You will see a list of any galleries you already have. Choose to create a new gallery, give it a Title, and save. The title becomes the gallery's web address, so use something clear like "Summer Festival 2026."
2 Choose the gallery settings
Open the gallery to set how it looks:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | The name of the gallery, also used to build its web address. |
| Description | A short introduction shown above the photos (optional). |
| View | How the photos are displayed: Grid (a tidy grid of thumbnails) or Carousel (a sliding, one-at-a-time band). |
| Thumbnail / Medium / Large size | The pixel sizes used for the small preview images and the larger versions visitors open. |
3 Add photos one at a time
With the gallery open, add an image and choose the photo from the Media Library. For each photo you can also enter a Title and a Description (caption). Repeat to add as many photos as you like.
4 Import a whole Media Library folder
If your photos are already gathered in one Media Library folder, you can add them all at once instead of one by one. In the gallery settings, choose the folder to import and save. Every image in that folder (including images in sub-folders) is added to the gallery. Photos that are already in the gallery are skipped, so it is safe to import again after adding new pictures to the folder.
5 Set captions and order
Each photo has a Title and a Description for captions, plus a Sort order number that controls where it appears. Lower numbers show first. Adjust these to arrange your gallery the way you want.
6 Place the gallery on a page or menu
A gallery gets its own web address from its title, so you can point visitors to it in two easy ways:
- Add the gallery to a menu so it appears in your site navigation (see the Menus guide).
- Link to it from inside a page: in the Page Editor, select some text, click Insert Link, and paste the gallery's address.
7 Edit or delete a gallery
Return to Left menu › Pages › Galleries and click a gallery to change its settings, add or remove photos, or reorder them. To remove a gallery entirely, open it and use the delete action.
Next steps
- Link to your gallery from a page or add it to a menu.
- Gather your photos first in the Media Library.
- For a rotating banner at the top of a page instead, see Slideshows.
